This is not a complete guide about lucid dreaming, but more like a glimpse of what is needed in your journey towards lucid dreaming.

Most probably from my dream experience, you rarely get any nightmares if you have practiced lucid dreaming.

Let get started on how to use the sleep awake technique.

Step 1 – Relax your Body

All you need to do is relax your whole body. Loosen all your muscles in the upper and lower body including legs, hands, and arms. You should also breathe deeply and gradually.

You can even say relax a little. The best way to begin is by focusing on the part of your body that is going to fall asleep.

Step 2 – Breathe Slowly

Slow deep breathing is the most effective technique for inducing sleep. As you inhale, expand your chest and abdomen, expanding through to your lower back. This will help your body and mind to relax.

Step 3 – Rest the body with mind awake

This can be a little confusing but all you need to do is have your body rest, relax while your mind stays awake. It can be difficult at first. The best way to get started is to do it gradually.

You can listen to binaural beats while resting your body and mind. Proceed to the next step for dream visualization.

Step 4 – Visualize your dreams

Visualize exactly what you want to happen in your dream. While your mind and body are in a completely relaxed state, you can visualize your dreams. The best way to start visualizing for beginners:

  • visualize seeing your own feet walking along on a sandy beach
  • visualize wind blowing a beautiful garden with grass and flowers, walking along a path while touching the flowers
  • imagine walking up or down a staircase to a beautiful garden
  • visualize your feet walking on green grass
  • visualize a high mountain in a distance with forest surrounding

Tips: You should let your mind to relax in a calm state. Do not force yourself to visualize or imagine. You will be able to see visual if you relax in a sleep awake state, and let your mind flow by itself.

These are the most basic visual for sleeping awake technique and these have been working for me.

Step 5 – In control of your dream

You will fall to sleep with mind still awake while your body is resting. The final step can be different for everyone and it’s hard to describe.

You will either get lucid dreaming or maybe not get one. What I have experienced in using this best lucid dreaming technique, I was able to get full control of my own dream (awake mind) a lot better than other techniques.

Final Thoughts

You can try the ‘sleep awake’ technique or wake-induced lucid dreaming (WILD) as many called it. Every individual has differences, you can try the most basic lucid technique first before learning this technique.

To be able to understand the sleep awake technique fully, I strongly recommend using this simple induction process before doing it.

You can enhance your dream visualization by listening to binaural beat. I’ve created a Binaural Beat playlist which I’d listened to whenever I use the WILD technique.

This technique works for me, but not everyone has the same results. This is the best lucid dreaming induction technique that helped me to understand the basics of lucid dreaming better than I could ever imagine.

The world of lucid dreaming is something you want to explore more and this technique definitely shows you how to do it. But you shouldn’t overdo it or force yourself to get into a lucid dream.

For beginners who would like to get lucid dreams, you should learn how to stay calm and meditate as your first step. Start to practice how to control your dream and in the beginning it might be hard, but after a while, you’ll notice that you can stay calm and in reality without much difficulty.
