Introducing the latest and most challenging recipe yet – Chroma X! This Fujifilm film simulation recipe is guaranteed to test your skills as a photographer, as it requires specific lighting conditions to achieve a stunning look. While it may not be for everyone, if you’re up for the challenge, give Chroma X a try!
Chroma X is a custom setting created for streets and only works on high-contrast locations. To achieve this look, it is best to shoot slightly underexposed images for the light and shadow under bright sunlight while taking into consideration the areas you’re shooting, such as places with buildings and dark shadows. This truly is one of the most challenging recipes out there.
After endless hours of tinkering with the settings and experimenting, the Chroma X recipe was inspired by the esteemed Downtown Bloom film simulation, known for its ability to capture stunning street photography shots. Classic Chrome recipe users have yet another reason to celebrate – the breakthrough Chroma X recipe can be used on older Fujifilm camera models and is based on the Classic Chrome film simulation.
After conducting extensive testing, I have come to the conclusion that the Chroma X performs optimally without the use of any filters. This allows for the production of photos that boast vivid colors and high contrast. Upon reviewing the sample photos, it is clear that the tonal balance differs between each shot. This can be attributed to various factors such as the use of different lenses including the SIRUI Sniper lens and the Fujinon XF35mm f2 lens, as well as the varying times and locations at which each photo was taken, with and without the use of diffusion filters.
The white balance shift is so subtle that it’s almost imperceptible. However, this shift has been intentionally made and has slightly shifted to a colder tone, which maintains the aesthetic of Classic Chrome while also achieving some different tonal range.
I hope you guys thoroughly enjoyed shooting with the Chroma X recipe and are now ready to take on this exciting challenge. As you put your photography skills to the test, I challenge you to push your limits and strive for excellence. So, are you ready to step up to the plate? ^^. Be it portraits or street photography, I would love to feature your photos in this Chroma X sample photos section, you can DM me on my Instagram @equilibrium.tt to get featured.
